Gaming accessories have traditionally focused on improving performance through faster peripherals, better displays, and more responsive controls. But comfort remains an overlooked part of the experience, particularly for players who spend hours gaming with a controller or handheld device.

nerdytec is expanding its approach to gaming ergonomics with the launch of the Couchmaster® CYPAD, a padded support cushion designed for people who play from their sofas using controllers, smartphones, and handheld consoles.

The product extends the company’s Couchmaster range beyond its traditional audience of PC gamers who use keyboards, mice, and laptops. Instead of requiring players to hold their arms unsupported throughout a session, the CYPAD provides a resting surface for their elbows, wrists, and arms.

The cushion wraps around the player and fastens with an adjustable clip at the back. Its design aims to reduce the need to lean forward or keep a controller suspended in the air during extended gameplay.

A different approach to gaming hardware

The CYPAD includes two large side pockets for storing controllers, phones, power banks, and other accessories. It also comes with an optional 13-foot USB-C cable that supports both data transfer and charging, with a built-in loop to route the cable toward the controller.

The cushion measures 25.2 by 25.2 inches and features a washable fabric cover available in black, camouflage, and brown. Players can purchase it with the cable for $69.90 or without it for $59.90.

The accessory can also be combined with nerdytec’s CYCON Couchmaster products, which provide wired connectivity and charging options for couch-based gaming.

The company has previously focused on ergonomic solutions for PC gaming. Its CYCON³ received an 88 out of 100 score from PC Gamer, while Windows Central rated the earlier CYCON² at 4.5 out of 5.

“I built the first Couchmaster because hours at a desk were wrecking my back,” said Chris Mut, co-founder and CEO of nerdytec. “Controller and handheld players have the same problem in a different place: their arms and shoulders. The CYPAD solves this problem.”

Roman Jakob, co-founder, CTO, and lead product developer, said the product was developed specifically around how people use controllers and handheld devices, with its padding and cable configuration designed for couch gaming.

With the CYPAD, nerdytec is applying its existing ergonomic design approach to a different category of gaming hardware, targeting players whose setups do not necessarily include a desk, keyboard, or mouse.
