Insurance brokerages serving startups must adapt to businesses whose risk profiles evolve as they raise capital, launch products and expand into new markets. Founder Shield has built its business around these needs, offering specialized insurance solutions for high-growth companies. Now, the brokerage is consolidating its identity under its parent company, The Baldwin Group, as part of a broader integration of its services.

The transition makes Founder Shield the Innovation Practice of The Baldwin Group, formalizing a relationship that began in 2021 when the brokerage joined the firm. The company says it will continue serving emerging businesses while operating under the unified brand.

Founder Shield has served more than 20,000 clients over more than a decade. Its digital insurance platform offers specialized products for companies in life sciences, technology, media, financial services and small business, addressing their risk management and client experience needs.

“Founder Shield brings capabilities and talent that make The Baldwin Group a stronger, more integrated firm,” said Michael Robinson, President, Innovation Practice at The Baldwin Group. “As our Innovation Practice, we are adding momentum to a firm built for what’s ahead, and we couldn’t be more excited to finalize the brand transition.”

The rebrand places Founder Shield’s expertise within The Baldwin Group’s broader insurance distribution business. According to the company, the integration has expanded the solutions available to growing businesses as they progress from early-stage development to larger-scale operations.

Kyle Jeziorski, Managing Director, Innovation Practice at The Baldwin Group, said the name change would not alter the business’s commitment to its clients.

“The Founder Shield name may be changing, but its commitment to clients remains as strong as ever,” Jeziorski said. “This transition opens the door to broader capabilities, greater collaboration, and a forward-thinking approach to risk and insurance that helps protect the possible for clients.”

Founder Shield’s services, insights, resources and client portals will remain accessible through foundershield.com and baldwin.com, according to the announcement.

The Baldwin Group operates under The Baldwin Insurance Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: BWIN), an independent insurance distribution firm providing risk management, insurance and employee benefits services. The company reports representing more than three million clients across the United States and internationally.

The announcement does not specify changes to Founder Shield’s product portfolio, pricing or operating structure beyond the rebrand and its designation as The Baldwin Group’s Innovation Practice. The move consolidates the business’s identity under its parent company while retaining its focus on emerging and high-growth businesses.
