Illinois-based Tidal Commerce launches HIPAA Help Center

The popular credit card processing and merchant service provider, Tidal Commerce, headquartered inOak Brook, Illinois, launched a HIPAA Help Center. The cloud-based solution will help medical businesses avoid infringing upon the regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and assist in resolving issues as they arise in real time.

HIPAA legislation was introduced in 1996 to provide data privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical information. It has recently gained greater prominence due to the increasing number of health data breaches caused by cyber and ransomware attacks on health insurers and providers.

HIPAA Help Center offers a full-service suite of features for managing compliance and Protected Health Information (PHI) within federal requirements. The Center is reviewed and validated by certified HIPAA specialists and is fully automated: when a medical business needs to complete a step, they will receive an email with the necessary task laid out for them.

The service automatically updates with new HIPAA policies to prevent any possible regulation infringements due to policy change. And should anything go wrong, HIPAA Help Center comes with up to $100,000 of insurance coverage for any data breaches and 24/7 US-based customer service help.

“Anyone with experience in the health industry knows that complying with HIPAA regulation is not easy,” said Mark Spirek, Tidal Commerce CTO. “We’re providing HIPAA Help Center so that our clients can spend their time focusing on what is important – patients – rather than having to worry about infringing complex regulations.”

HIPAA compliance is challenging and failing to comply is costly. Penalties for noncompliance are based on the level of negligence ranging from $100 to $50,000 per violation – with a maximum penalty of $1.5 million per year for violations of an identical provision. Serious violations can also result in up to ten years in prison. To ensure this does not occur, companies need tools to make both understanding and abiding by the law an easier process, hence the creation of HIPAA Help Center. HIPAA’s Help Center team is dedicated to helping companies monitor regulations so that they don’t have to spend time researching the law or worrying about ongoing training.

HIPAA Help Center is unique in that it guides covered entities through both HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules. The Center’s dedicated Protection Module covers the latter as users have access to Rmail email encryption and McAfee End Point Protection.

“HIPAA regulation is split into two sections: HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules,” added Spirek. “To address both simultaneously but thoroughly our HIPAA experts took a two-pronged approach so that both bases are covered. We then built them into the same interface for simplicity purposes for businesses”.
