Artsicle Lets You Try (Art) Before You Buy

The struggling artist is commonplace, but have you heard about the struggling curator?  That’s what Alexis Tryon and Scott Carleton, co-founders of Artsicle, discovered when they set out to find their own art.

“It was hard to find affordable work without knowing the artists, and galleries never took me seriously as a young professional,” said Tryon. “We started talking to artists and learned how much they were struggling to sell work. We started building the site last year with this in mind.”

And so Artsicle began as a simple e-commerce site last December, selling curated art from emerging artists.  But they quickly discovered that people had a real fear of buying art.

“It can be a significant investment, but it’s also unique as one of the few things we buy that we may keep forever,” said Tryon. “The idea of offering the option to ‘try before you buy’ was born out of this fear. Now it is the core of what I love about Artsicle – and what our customers are raving about.”

For about $50 a month, you can live with a piece of art, and find out if it’s something you want to see everyday. If not, just pull the ‘ol switcheroo until you fall in love.
