Today I was contacted by a very cool guy by the name of John Fox. John is the brains behind the site IndyGeek and he was curious if I would be willing to post a press release of his.
I am a firm believer that anyone who is looking to advance OUR cause in any state deserves recognition. (OUR cause being defined as anywhere between NYC and Silicon Valley)
So then, without further ado, I give you: The Rock Band 2 Competition in Indianapolis!
Indianapolis, IN — Who is the ultimate Rock Band? Hardcore players and casual fans of the game will battle it out for the title at Battle of the Rock Bands, 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, October 16 at Pinheads in Fishers. If you think you’ve got what it takes, have fun and win prizes at the event hosted by IndyGeek.net, the premier source for news and reviews on all things geek in central Indiana.
The all-ages event is open to the public and free for attendees, however donations are appreciated. Refreshment prices are set by Pinheads.
The grand-prize package, a value over $500, includes a free VIP suite at Pinheads Entertainment Center with 2 hours of private lane bowling for up to 40 people, and a copy of Rock Band 3, awarded upon the game’s release in October.
“It‘s a no-brainer that this is a wildly popular game around here, and a great community builder since you’ve got to play as a team. Everyone’s got a guarantee that they’ll have some fun, and we‘ve worked our tails off to put together some awesome prize packages,” said John Fox, Editor-in-Chief of IndyGeek.
Band entry fee is $5 per band member, or 4 band members for $15. As few as two can enter as a band at any difficulty level above medium. To move on to the next round, not only must each band score well in the game, but also must display impressive stage presence.
“This particular event is even more exciting because you‘re scored on multiple aspects. You‘ve got to wow a live audience if you want to be the top players as well as score well in the game,” Fox said.
