Argentinian startup Wideoo is looking to simplify video animation, eliminating the expensive and time-consuming animation process for both businesses and creative users. The company is currently on the verge of launching its easy-to-use platform that helps users create the kind of stylized videos that would take hours in any other animation application today.
Users can upload their own images, fonts, animations, and videos to help them forge their very own animated productions. Wideoo then lets them share their creation with friends or strangers across the internet for free. The South American company is gearing the new service to businesses who need creative ways to explain its most important concepts, in addition to users looking for something fun to do in their free time.
The company was founded by Agu de Marco and Agus Esperon, an art director based out of Buenos Aires. De Marco came upon the idea for an easy-to-use animation platform after finding himself struggling with the limited options for making a creative animated video about a business concept.
“In order to make the kind of video that he wanted, he realized he would either have to spend a ton of money or a great deal of time to learn an animation program like Adobe After Effects,” the team said. “From these frustrations of not being able to create a video simply and efficiently, he contacted Agus, who was working as an animation specialist, and together they created Wideoo.”
The Argentinian entrepreneurs feel that the atmosphere of the South American startup community is one of collaboration over competition, where new companies are working together to influence the rest of the world. “Startups in South America have good relationships between one another,” said the founders. “We don’t see each other as a competition, but as our support system. We hope to share and grow our experiences together.”
Wideoo is hoping to launch a beta of its animation platform by the end of October. In less than three months the company has received more than 2,400 early access requests and expects a great deal more following the beta release. The company believes that its unique creative approach will set it apart from other online animation platforms, like the subscription-based presentation enhancer PowToon, following its late October launch.
“Our goal is to create such a simple platform that it has the capability to change the way people communicate,” the founders said. “Today you send a text message, tomorrow you’ll be sending Wideoos.”
