As a student entrepreneur I often struggle with the the idea of remaining in school and increasing my personal debt while I’m bootstrapping my company. There have been many times over the past two years that my parents and I have had long heated discussions over the value of a four year degree in today’s society.
Billionaire and Paypal Co-Founder Peter Thiel coined the controversial “higher education bubble” alongside his 20 Under 20 fellowship program. The fellowship gives students under 20 the opportunity to drop out of school and create their own company with a $100,000 grant. Much of the data presented in this infographic justifies the argument I made to my parents about the overwhelming price of higher education, and also makes the Thiel fellowship look like a viable alternative.
