This morning L.A. startup nProgress launched their new social discovery app ntro . Successful video game designers Josh Resnick and Trey Watkins of Pandemic Studios and nProgress founders launched ntro with $1.7 Million in funding raised from a mix of Angels and institutions: Activsion Media Partners, Jeff Pulver, Jarl Mohn, Gordon Crawford, Kevin Wall, Baroda Ventures, SV Angel and Richard Crowell. Available for the iPhone and Android, ntro aims to connect you to other people who are nearby and share your interests. Users enter specific interests like running, eating asian salads, listening to Neil Diamond cover bands or even “train-spotting” and then the app alerts the user when they are in the vicinity of a person that also likes the same activity. Ntro allows you to view their profile and, if you’re interested in connecting, send them a text message. The person receiving your message can then choose to reply, ignore or initiate face to face interaction.
