Over 80% of healthcare data exists in unstructured formats such as physician notes and medical charts. Until now, much of it has been inaccessible to analytics platforms. PurpleLab’s acquisition of Kaid Health changes that equation.
The deal pairs PurpleLab’s HealthNexus platform—known for its real-world claims database—with Kaid Health’s Whole Chart Analysis, which uses natural language processing to capture insights hidden in free-text records. Together, they promise a more complete picture of patient care.
“This acquisition marks a transformation of PurpleLab from a traditional analytics provider into an AI-first healthcare intelligence company,” said Mark Brosso, CEO of PurpleLab.
Kevin Agatstein, founder and CEO of Kaid Health, added: “Our Whole Chart Analysis brings clinical notes to life. With PurpleLab’s scale, we can now deliver these insights across the entire healthcare ecosystem.”
For providers and payers, the move means better coding, faster workflows, and more accurate risk stratification. For the industry, it points to a future where AI doesn’t just crunch numbers but interprets the stories written in patient records.
