India’s Infosys opens important hub in Midwest

An information tech company from India unveiled a massive business center in its namesake state alongside Indiana Governor and the Indianapolis Mayor. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Infosys’ Indianapolis Technology and Innovation Hub in Indiana is expected to help the company’s increased efforts in the Midwest, according to Inside Indiana Business. “With Salesforce around in Indiana and all other enterprise cloud application companies which are trying to establish (themselves), this can truly be the vibrant tech hub of the Midwest and we could potentially lead the journey,” Infosys President Ravi Kumar is quoted as saying in the business publication. The $9-million business center, which was originally announced last May, will employ some 2,000 workers as the multinational corporation looks to strengthen its hold on the Midwest. Kumar said the company already has 150 employees ready now that the hub is officially open. The new business center is designed to train and provide overall technical skills to the workers who then help in the company’s overall mission of helping businesses catalyze their digital efforts, Inside Indiana Business wrote. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb noted that the addition of Infosys to his state could give a similar boost to the people of Indiana. “Not long ago, Infosys announced its plans to grow and create up to 2,000 high-wage jobs for Hoosiers,” Holcomb said. “Today, the company is not just up and running here in Indiana; it’s taking off. It’s great to welcome a company like Infosys that shares our vision for a 21st-century skilled workforce and is committed to increasing opportunity for working adults, students and educators. I’m glad they’ll be a part of our efforts to take Indiana to the next level, and I look forward to witnessing their continued success.”
