Healthbox Accelerator Announces First Round Participants

Chicago-based Healthbox Accelerator has announced the first participants who will begin the program on January 9, 2012. Ten health-related technology startups were chosen from applications received from 26 states and eight countries.  The inaugural class will have access to a mentor network which includes top industry professionals and venture capitalists along with $50,000 seed money each. The culmination of their efforts will be on display on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 for Investor Day. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with 10 passionate teams that represent some of the best entrepreneurial talent in healthcare,” said Healthbox founder Nina Nashif in a press release. “Their business ideas are spurring new ways of thinking and collaborating in the industry. Healthbox is committed to advancing their development and helping to bring sustainable innovation into the marketplace.” The ten startups are listed below.   • PUSH Wellness Solutions, based in Chicago, is a wellness incentive provider driving towards benefits that are beneficial to employees and employers.
  • PaJR, or Patient Journal Record  allows patients to update their health status, giving caregivers and physicians a means of hopefully preventing unnecessary hospitalizations.
  • SwipeSense provides real-time data, in addition to portable hand sanitizing stations, to help reduce the risk of hospital-related infections.
  • CareWire is a Minneapolis based startup focusing on real-time patient satisfaction data to increase overall provider performance.
  • The Coupon Doc is a one-stop shop for all medication needs. The Coupon Doc is based in Atlanta.
  • Corengi bridges the gap between medical study information and patients. A network is also set up to connect patients with trials that are relevant and right for them.
  • Iconic Data holds patient data for providers to access from any Internet capable device to promote efficiencies all around.
  • UnitedPreference is a prepaid card system used to purchase items for preventative health measures as determined by individual health plans and is based out of Princeton, New Jersey.
  • DermLink offers dermatology providers the option to diagnosis remotely and is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). DermLink is based out of Atherton, California.
  • CareHubs is a social network engagement site helping to better connect providers and patients in an effort to improve the quality of care and communication.
