Academic HealthPlans is bringing Gorilla Logic into a multi-year technology transformation designed to make software development more scalable, measurable and AI-enabled.

For organizations adopting artificial intelligence, the challenge is increasingly how to integrate the technology into existing operations without sacrificing reliability or control. Academic HealthPlans (AHP) is addressing that challenge through a strategic engineering partnership with Gorilla Logic, focused on its technology platform and the software delivery processes supporting its student health and wellness business.

AHP, part of the Brown & Brown Team, works with colleges and universities across the United States on student health benefits and plan administration. The company says its investment in technology, data and engineering is intended to help it respond to increasingly complex institutional needs and bring new capabilities to market faster.

“AI creates an opportunity to fundamentally improve how we operate and how we serve our clients,” said Terry Lyons, CEO of Academic HealthPlans. “We’re building the foundation that allows AHP to move faster, make better use of our data and continue delivering the level of expertise and service our clients expectations as we grow.”

The partnership will initially concentrate on modernizing core platform capabilities, strengthening software delivery and introducing a more structured approach to product development and customer service.

From AI-assisted assessment to measurable engineering

The companies have already conducted an AI-enabled assessment of AHP’s existing technology and engineering environment. The work combines AI-assisted analysis with hands-on engineering expertise to identify where modernization efforts could have the greatest impact.

The next phase will introduce governed AI-enabled engineering workflows and shared technical knowledge, alongside a metrics framework designed to track development velocity, reliability and predictability. The measurements are intended to give AHP clearer visibility into software delivery performance and help teams improve their processes over time.

Gorilla Logic will support the initiative with its Construct™ engineering system, which combines reusable expertise, reference architectures, accelerators and established delivery practices.

Drew Naukam, CEO of Gorilla Logic, said the company’s role is to connect AHP’s specialized market expertise with engineering capabilities that can operate at the pace and scale its business requires.

“AI can increase the speed of software development, but enterprise-grade technology still requires governance, sound engineering practices and experienced judgment,” Naukam said. “That’s the discipline we’re bringing to this partnership.”

The distinction is central to the companies’ approach: AI-enabled development is being introduced alongside governance and established engineering practices, rather than treated as a standalone productivity tool.

The partnership is designed to make engineering teams more autonomous, improve delivery predictability and help AHP scale innovation across its organization. It is also expected to strengthen the company’s ability to use data and AI to generate deeper insights for the educational institutions it serves.

“Technology is increasingly central to how we help institutions navigate the complexity of student health,” Lyons said. “This partnership is an investment in where that experience goes next.”

Neither company disclosed the financial terms of the agreement, specific productivity targets or a detailed rollout schedule.

AHP was founded in 1998 and provides customized student health benefit programs and administrative services. Gorilla Logic specializes in AI-native product and platform engineering, workflow automation, AI-enabled software delivery and enterprise integration.
