Education sector set to benefit as ManagedMethods launches Advanced Phishing tool

ManagedMethods, a Colorado-based edtech enterprise, launched a new feature that promises to enhance the capabilities of its core cybersecurity solution, Cloud Monitor.

The introduction of Advanced Phishing brings enterprise-grade detection methods to K–12 school districts for the first time. The new feature leverages the power of  chain-of-thought (CoT) AI, designed to simulate human-like problem-solving to detect phishing and spam emails

The announcement marks the latest milestone in the company’s ongoing mission to provide robust K-12 school security solutions through advanced cloud monitoring and web content filtering tools.

Founded in 2013 by industry veterans of enterprise performance and security software sectors, the company is committed to using this experience to build security solutions designed to meet the unique needs of the education sector.

In particular, ManagedMethods developed the Advanced Phishing feature in response to emerging trends related to phishing attacks. According to the company statement, 63% of K–12 organizations were hit by ransomware last year, and 26% of those attacks started with a phishing email.

Charlie Sander, CEO of ManagedMethods and this article’s featured photo, explained that “Bad actors use sophisticated, socially engineered emails to impersonate trusted sources like administrators, vendors, and even students and parents in order to steal credentials, deploy ransomware, or trick staff into wiring funds.”

“Traditional email filters often miss these more advanced attacks, leaving schools vulnerable,” he continued.

The launch of Advanced Phishing helps the education sector tackle potential vulnerabilities that stem from socially engineered emails and maintain robust defenses. It also flags risky emails and provides IT teams with recommended response actions and automated remediation to save valuable time and reduce exposure.

The announcement follows the launch of ManagedMethods’ Classroom Manager, a new comprehensive solution for online instruction and learning in the classroom.
