Data centers drive uptick in electricity demand as AEP and Think Power Solutions focus on AI-enabled utility infrastructure

This past year American Electric Power (AEP), one of the world’s largest electric utility companies, was named one of the market’s safest dividend stocks, in part due to increasing demand for electricity stemming from data centers.

In fact, it’s forecast that by the end of this decade, the United Sates will use more electricity for data centers than for the production of aluminum, steel, cement, chemicals, and all other energy-intensive goods combined.

Part of this is due to the increasing demand for artificial intelligence.

For AEP, AI technology represents much more than just a driver for growth. The company is embracing the use of AI across its service delivery and the development of its infrastructure, thanks to its renewed contract with Think Power Solutions.

Think Power Solutions is a leader in AI-enabled utility infrastructure solutions provider with an industry-leading safety record, with this agreement reinforces its commitment to delivering innovative infrastructure solutions and expert consultancy services.

Under its renewed contract, Think Power Solutions’ consultants are expected to provide TCR and FCR services for AEP’s ongoing substation, line, aerial fiber, underground fiber, civil, and tower projects.

These will include field construction oversight, data reporting, and other critical support across AEP’s operational footprint.

According to Hari Vasudevan, CEO of Think Power Solutions, “Think Power Solutions is honored to continue our long-standing work with AEP on AI-driven utility infrastructure solutions.”

“Our team of expert consultants remains committed to delivering the highest quality oversight services—ensuring reliability, efficiency, and innovation in every project—while maintaining an uncompromising focus on safety.”

For more than a decade the company has served electric utility customers across Texas, the Southeast, and the Midwest, providing AI-driven solutions powered by advanced technology and deep industry expertise.

The company’s dedication to excellence has been recognized through several accolades, including being rated a Great Place to Work for four consecutive years.
