Google has a new product called Google TV that will be launching Fall 2010. Google TV proposes to bring the two visual mediums you love together without having to neglect one or the other. GoogleTV has teamed up with Sony, Logitech, Intel, and DISH Network to bring this technology to a living room near you. This product promises to make finding what you want to watch easier and more enjoyable for the whole family. Some TVs will come with the product pre-installed or you may purchase a separate box. It will combine ones TV, DVR recordings and Internet all in one place.
With this exciting new concept how will cable providers be able to compete? Will this hurt computer sales and boost TVs? Maybe this product will balance the two. On one hand you have those that won’t even look at a computer and have no idea what it is. Most likely those users will stick with their TV and possibly stumble upon GoogleTV if they have a TV that has it pre installed. Then you have those that can’t live without their desktop, laptop, iPad/iPhone etc. This audience will jump at the thought of being able to still be a click away from the internet and catch their favorite program on television. With so many networks providing clips and episodes of their shows online, will there be a need for cable television? In the future, likely not. Networks will likely move more programming online and eliminate the broadcasting cost of their budget. Interested to see what happens. What will you choose: GoogleTV or cable?
See how it will work:

Google never ceases to amaze!!! Love you Google!
Cable's conversion to encrypted QAM has left my PC internal tuner cards useless, I want an internal tuner card for Dish Network, and I don't really care if it's from Google or someone else.
GoogleTV is supposed to be coming within the month (http://zd.net/dnSxjj) which is perfect timing to prime the pump to push holiday sales (I think Sony and Logitech are their main partners at this point). That being said this is going to be an interesting competition - Apple TV (try #2), GoogleTV and the Boxee Box.
Boxee is a great software platform but Google has the resources - and of course we all like to hate on Apple these days.
Personally, I'm waiting to see what I can do with GoogleTV - I've been wanting to build a HTPC but this might cover all of my bases. We will see...
I highly doubt Google TV will get free Hulu. Hulu seems pretty set on making everyone pay to get Hulu on a device - which I think is really lame. Get Boxee if you don't want to pay for Hulu Plus. Hulu initially blocked Boxee's access to Hulu, but that was a long time ago, before Boxee built in a web browser. I've been watching TV shows and movies from Hulu for free on my Boxee setup for quite a while now.
I think Google TV and DISH Network's partnership is definitely going to be something to talk about for quite some time. The Logitech Revue with Google TV is an amazing device and I'm glad I got one. I like it because DISH subscriber/employees like me can get one at a discounted rate and integrate it with our DVRS. It's got tons of features and truly has changed the way the world watches TV and surfs the web. I recommend to all! :)
