Mark Zuckerberg said,
“I think that people just have this core desire to express who they are. And I think it’s always existed.”
But when do we take this desire too far? And are we sharing too much online these days? The facts are staggering: Facebook currently has over 800 million users worldwide. The McKinsey Global Institute estimates that each month Facebook users share 30 billion personal scraps of information. The ubiquitous “Like” button, now virtual household name, is clicked over 2 billion times per day. Not to mention 250 million new daily photo uploads. If the numbers make you feel like running for the hills, you could always try deleting yourself from the Internet.

As someone guilty of sharing too much, I think it's also just becoming a matter of culture. Young people are used to open, honest communication on the internet (or through their phone) and unless parents do something to discourage this over sharing, it will only continue to foster and grow.
