Ourself Health debuts Stella to decode the female hormonal blueprint
The healthcare industry is currently undergoing a massive digital transformation, yet it is still grappling with a legacy of systemic exclusion. For decades, the medical world operated on a “male-as-default” setting; notably, it wasn’t until 1993 that women were consistently included in clinical trials. This historical oversight has created a significant “data gap,” leaving women with medical treatments and diagnostic tools that are often suboptimal or fail to account for the nuances of female biology.
A surge of innovation in the FemTech sector is finally addressing these disparities. Leading this charge are female entrepreneurs who are leveraging advanced technology to provide clarity where there was once only confusion.
Bridging the Hormonal Blindspot
One of the most complex frontiers in this space is hormonal health. Hormones serve as the body’s chemical messengers, dictating everything from metabolic rate and sleep quality to emotional well-being. Despite their critical role, hormonal imbalances frequently manifest as subtle, overlapping symptoms (fatigue, brain fog, or mood shifts) that traditional diagnostic methods often overlook or dismiss.
Ourself Health, a women’s health platform founded by Adriana Torosian, aims to bring these invisible signals into focus. The startup reached a major milestone with the launch of Stella, an AI-powered health companion. Stella is designed to act as an intelligent layer that connects the dots between a user’s symptoms, hormonal cycles, and daily lifestyle patterns.
Stella: AI with a Clinical Conscience
While many generic AI tools provide broad health advice, Stella is built on a foundation of specialized research. The tool integrates a user’s personal health history with global findings in women’s health to provide evidence-based guidance.
“What I initially thought was something specific about me, over time I realized was just as relevant to women managing all kinds of conditions. Without a tool to help them collect and analyze information about themselves all in one place, they were missing the trends, patterns, and correlations specific to them,” explains Adriana Torosian, founder of Ourself Health.
The goal is to move the needle from simple data collection to proactive interpretation. By identifying patterns in a user’s hormonal signals, Stella helps women understand the “why” behind their symptoms.
“Our goal has always been to help women understand what’s happening in their bodies and why,” says Torosian.
The impetus for Ourself Health was deeply personal. After living a healthy and active, Torosian faced a sudden health crisis that traditional Western and Eastern medicine couldn’t provide clear answers to. Frustrated by the lack of support, she began meticulously tracking her own habits and hormonal cycles to find the root cause.
“Stella builds on that foundation by helping translate data, coupled with the most current women’s health research, into guidance that women can use in their daily lives,” the executive added.
That personal system evolved into the Ourself Health app. Today, the platform supports women across all life stages—from the early reproductive years through perimenopause and menopause. By using AI to analyze complex datasets in a fraction of the time it would take a human, Ourself Health is ensuring that the next generation of women doesn’t have to navigate their health in the dark.
In an era where data is everywhere, Ourself Health is finally making that data work specifically for women.
