Pittsburgh’s very own DataBank is planning to expand it’s business data center. According to a company press release, the location already provides direct connection to 25 fiber carrier networks but will now be adding 10,000 square feet of office space and 1.5 megawatts of power, all of which should be completed by the final quarter of 2019.
Databank’s new expansion comes directly from increased interest and investment into the firm that promotes itself as a leader in data, cloud, and connectivity services.
“We are seeing continued demand from customers seeking edge access to the rich interconnection ecosystem we offer at our Pittsburgh data center,” states Kevin Ooley, President and CFO for DataBank. “We believe expanding in our existing building envelope will allow us to provide high quality, enterprise grade colocation space in close proximity to our diverse carrier ecosystem.”
DataBank’s Pittsburgh headquarters is located at the Nova Place tech center on the city’s north side.
“We are excited to see continued investment in this type of critical infrastructure in the Pittsburgh area as it further demonstrates the growing role of technology in our region,” said senior manager J. Ray Scott.
Though originally headquartered in Dallas in the former Federal Reserve Bank Building, DataBank’s Pittsburgh location has been a big hit for the major Midwestern city.
