This week Chicago startup BlipCare has unveiled a new multi-user Wi-Fi scale that helps its users keep tabs on their fitness progress. The BlipScale is paired with an online platform that supports up to 10 users, displaying metrics of weight loss progress over weekly and monthly periods.
Aside from giving individuals a simple way to keep track of fluctuations in their weight over time, the platform additionally helps users keep an eye on the health progress of elderly or chronically ill family members from afar. The easy-to-use scale even features an alarm that can remind forgetful users to take their daily weight reading, instantly assessing and transmitting both weight and body mass measurements to the online network.
To switch between users the BlipScale features three convenient “kick buttons,” located just underneath the glass platform and activated with the touch of a foot. The scale is capable of tracking weight and body mass measurements for two main users and up to eight additional guests.
“We felt the need for a simple and accurate weight loss scale that a user could use anywhere and take control of their weight without worrying about connectivity issues,” said BlipCare founder and CEO Dr. Sukhwant Khanuja. “We look forward to developing other easy-to-use wellness products to meet the growing demand for personal monitoring.”
The BlipScale is currently going through a funding round on Indiegogo aiming to raise $50,000 over the next month and a half. 25 of the earliest backers can get the scale, which will retail for $99, at a $20 discount, and for $189 supporters can snag themselves a pair. If successfully funded, the product is expected to make it to customers by February of next year — just in time to help out with keeping those New Year’s weight loss resolutions.
