If Santa was an Android gamer, he’d be sure to drop off a few new game titles this Christmas for all of us to wake up to our phones this year. Since the North Pole’s gaming industry is only pumping out board games, Santa has decided to leave the digital games up to companies like St. Louis-based IDC Projects.
This year, IDC Projects delivered. Their popular Memory Matches game, previously only on the iOS and Windows 8 platforms, is now available for Android devices. The company announced that the game was live in the Google Play store a few weeks ago on their blog, but they wanted to keep the launch quiet so that they could discover and a fix bugs before launching to a wider audience.
So far, the response to the app has been favorable. Memory Matches currently has perfect five star rating in the Google Play store. Version 1.0.1 lowered the memory usage, and reduced the overall app size.
“After reaching over a million downloads on iOS, we’re excited to bring our most popular title to Android,” said IDC Projects CEO Michael Orlando. Memory Matches has been downloaded over 1.6 million times. IDC Projects is hoping to achieve similar success on Android.
The company worked with Microsoft this fall to bring Memory Matches to the Windows 8 platform. The game was featured in the Windows 8 app store on the platform’s launch day, and IDC Projects received additional promotional and development assistance from Microsoft.
The game was also the first to be featured on the LockerDome platform as part of a partnership between Dime Magazine, LockerDome, and IDC Projects.
